Alpaca Walking Berkshire

Mortimer Alpacas

Mortimer Alpacas offer two Alpaca experiences, you can choose from an Alpaca walk and picnic, or a picnic and play with Alpacas, the walk is quite a short one lasting about 20 minutes and the rest is spent interacting and spending time with the Alpacas for some great selfie shots.

Wyld Court Alpacas

Location : Casey Fields Farm Shop Off Dog Lane, Ashampstead, Reading

The experience starts with meeting the alpacas and learning a little about them. You will be shown how to lead your alpaca. Then it’s off for a walk, done at the alpacas pace and they are in no rush!!!

During the alpaca trekking you will be given a bag of feed to give to your alpaca as you walk, you also stop for photos and alpacas snacks along the way to help you enjoy the alpaca experience.

The walk takes around an hour and a half. The walk is through wooded byways and can get a little muddy so it is advisable to wear wellies or walking boots.

Children must be over 6 to lead an alpaca and if under 9 an adult must hold an additional lead. The route is not suitable for pushchairs and small children would need to walk or be carried.

A great experience to get up close and personal with alpacas. It is an hour long session, where you are taught how to handle alpacas, learn to understand them and then take them for a walk on private land to see the rest of the herd. There will also be photo opportunities.

The alpaca experience will begin with a short safety briefing where you’ll be taken through all the important stuff and all the ‘do’s & the don’t’s to ensure that your experience is as safe and as enjoyable as possible.

You’ll then get some bonding time with your new best friend (which they will be!) And you’ll also get to feed them their breakfast before you head out on to the walk.

The walk itself usually lasts for around 30 minutes, however this does all depend on the Alpacas. Sometimes they like to take their time and enjoy the scenery, other times they like walk around slightly quicker.

Once the walk has finished, we’ll then release them back into the paddock, where they’ll spend the rest of the day, grazing. Lydford Gorge Alpacas

Take your alpaca on a 2.5 mile trail straight from the farm onto a moorland track in Dartmoor National Park. Follow a stony bridleway out towards Brentor Church which sits high on top of an extinct volcanic cone.

With far reaching views in every direction, you get to gaze at Great Links, Brat and Alms Tor on the return (if you can take your eyes off of your furry pal!).

Stop for ‘pea pitstops’ along the way where you will get to feed your alpaca pal some of his favourite treats (dried peas) and take some photographs.

Woolley Animals

The walk itself lasts at least an hour at alpaca speed (that’s not very fast!) and takes you around the land, lake and woodland (no hills).

Then you come back, say goodbye to the alpacas and you get to feed the goats. Then you can say hello to the other animals here on the farm at your leisure including sheep, alpacas, miniature donkeys, shetland ponies and the goats

Alpaca Adventures

Why not go and join Alpaca Adventures on their small holding near the Wiltshire/Dorset border just outside Shaftesbury for a walk with their beautiful alpacas.

You start with an introduction to the animals on the smallholding. You will meet the girls and their Cria (baby alpacas) depending on the time of year.

You will then be introduced to the alpaca that you will be walking with and be shown how to walk and handle them.

Once you are comfortable you will set off on a walk around the fields at a leisurely pace in safe and secure surroundings. The whole visit lasts approximately an hour and a half with the walk taking around 30-40 minutes.

Dorset Alpaca Walking

The walk takes around one and a half to two hours, and consists of an initial rounding up of the herd and learning all about the alpacas.

This is followed by harnessing the chosen alpacas, and then a gentle stroll through beautiful Dorset countryside, or the local hamlet. It is located on a private lane set in parkland laid out by ‘Capability’ Brown, which is an area designated as being of ‘Outstanding Natural Beauty.’

The session usually ends up with one to one feeding of the alpacas with their favourite treats!

Longthorns Farm Alpaca Experience lasts approx 1-hour 45-minutes, consisting of an alpaca learning session and safety induction, introduction to the alpaca’s, facts, and figures about these amazing animals. This followed by a walk out into the woods for a 45-50 minute walk taking in the sights and more learning.

It starts with a short (approx. 15min) introduction to the Alpacas whilst they get them ready for you and they’ll go over a few do’s and don’ts for you to observe around the Alpacas; after this you’ll be introduced to your Alpaca for the walk and you’ll set off.

Your walk will last around 45min to an hour depending on how lazy the alpacas are feeling, and how many photo (or alpaca toilet) stops there are.

You should be able to give them a little feed (they don’t charge any extra for that) and take pics also no charge. They’ll take you to see the girls and any babies they have after the trek if you wish.

Blackwater Alpacas

Alpaca Walking Experiences take approximately 90 minutes, consisting of a Welcome and brief Health & Safety chat, meeting the walking team, holding the lead rein training, a walk around the paddock to get used to walking your alpaca.

Then a leisurely stroll around the farm, past the paddocks of pygmy goats, past the Christmas trees, alongside the beautiful river Blackwater, through the copse of willow trees and past one of the lakes until you walk back to the start point.

Pure Alpacas

Alpaca walks around a beautiful farm in Gloucestershire. Situated between the Malvern Hills and the Cleeve Escarpment, they are superbly located for some truly magnificent vistas of the surrounding views.

After a short introduction to the farm, you will be introduced you to the different groups of alpacas including the mums and babies where you can get up close, hand feed and get some great selfies.

You will then halter up your walking alpaca team and set off for a casual walk around the farm. During the walk, they will tell you a little about alpacas, their history and what they do with their stunning fleece.

All Alpacas will need to walk together. They are pack animals and have a close bond. There is a discount if you book more than one person on the same experience and it is taken on the same day and time.

On an alpaca experience at Hilly Ridge you will leave knowing a lot more about alpaca than when you came and hopefully you will be captivated and will leave with a huge smile on your face.

They pack a lot into your time, you will go for a lovely relaxing walk with the alpacas , then off into the field with the mums and young babies.

Then it’s time to take up the challenge of the Hilly Ridge Obstacle course with a wonderful 1st place rosette up for grabs!

Unicorn Alpaca Walks

The walk takes you on the alpaca trail, past a little runway and on to a circular walk around the top fields. It lasts approximately 45 minutes to an hour depending on the size of group and how frequently your alpaca stops for a grassy snack.
