All About WDW Typhoon Lagoon Water Park

Just in time for summer, we have the low down on Typhoon Lagoon, one of the two water parks at Disney World. It took our family quite some time to make our way to Disney’s water parks and I wish we would have gone sooner! It gets so muggy in Florida that water play is always high on our vacation list. Somehow, I thought that the pool resorts would be enough fun, but the water parks add another dimension to Disney World! This summer Typhoon Lagoon will be hosting H2O Glow Nights! I’ll tell you more about that later.

Overview

Typhoon Lagoon is located near Disney Springs and is 56 acres. Disney lore is that a powerful typhoon blew through a tropical island, scattering ships, surfboards and fishing equipment all over and wherever it landed, it stayed and is decorating this tropical paradise today. It’s not as large as the theme parks, but I really enjoy the vibe of Typhoon Lagoon.

Palm trees are everywhere, the pools are made to look like the open sea and there’s sand to play in! The park is open year-round, with scheduled closures for maintenance during the winter months, but Blizzard Beach remains open during that time, if you’re in the mood for water rides. Tickets to the water parks are separate from the theme parks and are NOT included in the Park Hopper ticket, but AttractionTix WDW Tickets do include both Water parks

Miss Adventure Falls is a new family raft attraction taking guests of all ages a fast-paced waterslide journey at DisneyÕs Typhoon Lagoon Water Park. Miss Adventure Falls tells the story of Captain Mary Oceaneer, a treasure-hunter whose collection and ship now reside here after a rogue typhoon swept them to shore. Pictured is Duncan, Captain Mary’s diving partner and parrot, who is also the first Audio-Animatronic at Disney’s Water Parks. Attractions

The park is centered around the Typhoon Lagoon Surf Pool, and the rides and attractions spray out from there, with bridges and walking paths connecting everything. There are 11 attractions to explore.

  • Cushioned seating
  • Towels
  • Locker
  • Refillable drink mugs

You can book a 3-hour private surf lesson that begins before the park opens. You’ll get your chance at surfing 100 waves! Splash Pack

The Splash Pack is a new option that is available at both water parks. It’s a bundle that includes select food, drinks, a refillable water park mug and a Disney towel. Packs are available from March-August of this year, 2019 and they can only be purchased on the day of use. Price is $44 per person plus tax.

H20 Glow Nights Typhoon Lagoon

H2O Glow Nights

H2O Glow Nights debuted last year and I am so happy that it’s returning this summer! The night time water park party lasts from May 30th to August 24th. This is a hard ticket event, which means that in addition to your entry ticket, you must purchase the event ticket.

Partysaurus Rex, from Toy Story is the host and he brings all his co-stars, Buzz Lightyear, Woody and Jessie. Guests will enjoy shorter attraction wait times, character meet-and-greets, special drinks and snacks, and a dance party with a live DJ. This event is a lot of fun for adults and kids. The best part is that tickets are limited, so the crowds are small!

Typhoon Lagoon is not a huge water park by Orlando standards, but it’s very clean and is kept up to date. The small touches, that only Disney can do, makes the whole experience well worth the ticket cost, which is also a pretty good deal considering you gain entrance to both parks. If you haven’t been to this water park yet, put it on your to do list!

  3. This does not look like my idea of fun, lol. I like swimming as a sport, doing lanes at the pool, but not for hanging around and playing in water. My boys however would absolutely LOVE this!
