Apedale Valley Light Railway Santa Special

Your party will board the train at the platform adjacent to the Apedale Heritage Centre.
During the 15-minute round trip, Santa will meet the train and come back to the Heritage Centre.

Our Christmas Special is the most magical, family, Christmas experience. The time you book for is your train ride where your enchanted experience will begin, please be sure to arrive 30 minutes before your slot so you have plenty of time to prepare. Once you’ve checked in you will board upon the Santa Express where our driver will navigate you through the Estate Woodland. You will arrive at Father Christmas’s Winter Wonderland where you and your family will meet Father Christmas himself, along with his very helpful Elves, receive a special gift and also watch a Christmas dance!
After your train ride you will be led into the enchanted walk to visit the talking Gingerbread House, Dolly. Here you will listen to tales of how cheeky Ginger and Brownie, our resident Fairy and Elf, have been causing havoc in the woods.
Once you have listened to Dolly’s tales, you will then explore our Adventure Play Area while enjoying the delights of our Café and seating area in our brand-new Tipi Tents. Avon Valley Railway Santa Special
Location: Bitton Station, Bath Road, Bitton Bristol, BS30 6HD
If you’ve visited us recently you’ll know that we’ve changed the way we’re selling tickets with each family group being seated in their own compartment or area with table seating of up to eight people, separate from other passengers. To book, simply choose the date and time you wish to travel and select one of the available compartments. Then, select the different ticket types for the people travelling with you and ‘seat not required’ for any you don’t need. That just stops anyone else from being able to sit with you on the day to help maintain social distancing. However, if you book six or more seats we’ll offer you a 10% discount on all the seats purchased, so why not bring grandparents or other family members with you and make the most of seeing Santa! Trains will depart at 10:20, 11:40, 13:00, 14:20 and 15:40.
Once onboard, you’ll enjoy a mince pie or festive biscuit as you travel the line and when you return to Bitton Station you’ll meet Santa and have the chance to take family photographs with him. All good boys and girls will receive a present from him too! But, like last year, he’s going to have to make some changes to the gifts he gives out as the virus (and now supply issues caused by Brexit) is causing no end of problems for his elves in Lapland. They’re having real problems getting hold of the things they need to make presents for all the little boys and girls. Therefore, specifically for this year, he’ll be giving a gift suitable for all ages 1 – 7 which will be in the form of a high quality Avon Valley Railway ‘Station Master’ plush teddy bear with a couple of presents suitable for our youngest infant visitors as well as older boys and girls aged 8+.

Battlefield Line Railway’s Santa Experience

Following on from our highly successful 2020 Santa trains, we have listened to customer feedback and launching some exciting changes this year, beginning with the introduction of Bronze, Silver and Gold tickets.
Bronze -Passengers will be seated at their own table (each table seats up to 4) in one of our open plan coaches. Once boarded, all adults will be offered a mince pie, and children will receive a packet of sweets. During your return steam train journey, Santa will visit your group at your table to spread some festive joy and hand a small present to each child. Prices start at £13 per person(Note: Any bookings of up to 2 passengers MAY have to share their table with another booking of 2 passengers, dependant on covid restrictions at the time)

Bure Valley Railway Festive Express

Hop on board one of our Festive Express steam trains this December. Enjoy a 1 hour experience from our Aylsham Station including festive treats, a 30 minute steam train ride and a guest appearance from Santa.

Itinerary
Arrive at Aylsham Station 20-30 minutes before your train departs to collect your boarding pass and festive refreshments to enjoy on your journey. You will have your own heated private compartment for your party.
Once everyone has boarded, the train will depart our brightly decorated station to Brampton. Wave to your Steam engine from your carriage as it turns around before returning.

Chinnor & Princes Risborough Railway

Thank you for taking a peak at our Santa Steam Specials which will operate in late November and throughout December, when all trains will begin their journey at Princes Risborough with Santa welcoming everyone onboard.
We will then travel with Santa to his North Pole station where we will halt-a-while for refreshments and a much anticipated visit to Santa’s workshop to pick-up that important first Christmas present!
On the return journey Santa will pass through the carriages to ensure his Elves have pleased all the young folks with their presents. The whole experience from leaving Princes Risborough Platform 4 to arriving back again will take around one and a half hours.
Santa says he hopes that this Christmas will look much more normal – but he thinks it’s best to continue doing some things differently to help stop the spread of the virus. For example, we’ll be managing social distancing by seating family groups at their own individual tables in Open-plan carriages, plus there will be a limited number of separate compartments away from other passengers for those who prefer them. The most important thing is that we’ll do our best to provide all of the usual elements of our Santa experience; the train ride, the opportunity to meet Santa, beveridges plus mince pies or biscuits, and a present for all the younger children (0-12 years).
Christmas comes but once a year and we want to make it a truly memorable occasion – Santa says we really want you to have a great time and enjoy that festive feeling.

Dean Forest Railway Santa Special
Location : Norchard Station, Forest Road, Lydney, Glos. GL15 4ET
Visit the Dean Forest Railway this Christmas for your chance to ride behind a real steam engine and meet Santa and his elves on board!
The train will depart from Norchard Station, heading first to Lydney Junction Station, where there is a short stop while the ending runs round (toilet facilities available on the platform). The train will then depart Lydney Junction and head non-stop through the forest to Parkend Station. There will be a short break at Parkend (where toilet facilities are available if needed), before returning back to Norchard Station to complete your 75-minute journey.
When booking you can add on a special Christmas Afternoon Tea, with a turkey, cranberry & stuffing sandwich, cream tea (two scones, clotted cream and strawberry jam), a slice of Christmas cake and a hot drink (with options of tea, hot chocolate and a range of coffees), or for something lighter just the Cream Tea, or a Christmas Picnic Box (with a turkey, cranberry & stuffing sandwich, a slice of Christmas cake and a hot drink), or a Bacon Roll & Hot Drink.

Didcot Railway Centre Steam Into Christmas

Climb aboard a train of vintage carriages with a private compartment for each group and listen for the whistle and whoosh of steam as the train sets off on a journey to meet Father Christmas.
Santa is letting his reindeer take a rest ahead of Christmas Eve and he will be in a special train full of presents in a wonderfully decorated Victorian station. East Somerset Railway Santa By Starlight

We’re so excited, Santa’s back at the North Pole this year. And, he’s looking forward to welcoming you all to his grotto!
As if visiting Santa wasn’t exciting enough, seeing him under starlight gives that added sparkle to your festive fun here at the East Somerset Railway.
On arrival, our young guests will receive a goody bag (containing festive themed colouring sheets, crayons and a Santa based family quizz for you all to enjoy). Then, your party will embark our Special Santa steam train for a delightful 30 minute trip to the North Pole.
At the end of your journey, you will make your way across the line to the North Pole Station. Santa’s elves and our balloon modeller will be there to greet you. Whilst you wait to see Santa there will be festive refreshments of mulled cider and warming hotdogs for you to enjoy.

Inclusive connecting heritage bus from Epping Underground Station or Ongar (when selected during booking).
The experience starts at North Weald Station where you will get the chance to get in the spirit with something from one of our festive food or sweet stalls whilst you listen to our live brass band! As you wait for the train perhaps you will meet our characters who will be walking around the crowds looking for the nice children to make sure that Santa will find them later. Naughty children will not be allowed to board the train!
Not long after arriving you will be invited to move over our footbridge; and then take your allocated seats on the train. Whilst the nice children wait for Santa to find them on the train and give them a present, our entertainers will be around to keep you busy. The children will find time to write a letter for Santa or enter our drawing competition. When you return to North Weald there should be time to get a quick picture of the train with the big man himself. However time is limited and this is not guaranteed.
Please note that whilst Santa’s special trains will use the same train as that used for our Epping Ongar Light Fantastic service, the external lights will not be switched on for these trains.

A truly wonderful experience of lights and music is coming to the Epping Ongar Railway this year, featuring a specially designed show to highlight our stations, rural setting and woodlands, that you can experience from the comfort of a train carriage. The magic begins as soon as you arrive at North Weald; the exterior of the train looks fantastic, but once on board the train, let the magic unfold as the festive music plays and the story begins. Norfolk Lights Express

Come along and ride with Santa on a train ride along the Northampton & Lamport Railway from Pitsford and Brampton station.
As there are a large number of children (and adults) who want to meet Santa, he has asked us to make appointments for your visit. These start at 10:00 then at an hour and a half intervals until 16:00.
This year Santa will be traveling along on the train greeting everyone as you travel through the Northamptonshire countryside. Refreshments will be served onboard. For children, a soft drink, and biscuits and adults will receive a glass of sherry (or soft drink if preferred) and a mince pie (please help us prepare by selecting what you will like from the checkout page in your order). Rudyard Lake Steam Railway Santa Specials
Location : Rudyard Station, Rudyard Leek ST13 8PF
Every year in December we run our signature event in association with Rudyard Lake, our Santa Specials.
These trains depart from Rudyard Station and you will enjoy a scenic steam train ride before seeing Santa who will first sail past in his boat on his way to the Grotto. The train then returns to The Dam station where you will alight and take a short walk over to see Santa in his Grotto. The Grotto is inside in the warmth and dry of the Lake Visitor Centre where sherry, soft drinks, mince pies and biscuits will be served whilst you wait your turn to see Santa. After seeing Santa you will then catch a train back to the car park at Rudyard Station.

Ruislip Lido Railway
Location : Reservoir Road London HA4 7TY
Christmas comes but once a year, so take the train because Santa is near!
Santa is a very busy man around Christmas time, but once again, he has managed to find a space in his diary to visit the Ruislip Lido Railway.
Your adventure will start from Willow Lawn Station (by the Waters Edge carvery and car parks), where you will board one of our trains at the time shown on your ticket that you booked for. The train ride, lasting about 12 minutes, will carry you on an enchanting ride through the woods and around the Lido to Santa’s Grotto at Woody Bay Station. Watch out for all the lights and decorations at both stations, and also along the way as you travel through the woods. On arrival at Woody Bay, Santa will be waiting for a chat with the children and a photo opportunity with all the family before EVERYONE (yes – grown-ups too!) receive their presents. Once you’ve seen Santa, you may stay at Woody Bay as long as you wish before catching any train back to Willow Lawn Station, with another opportunity to see the trackside decorations along the way.
In addition to meeting the big man himself, pop in to our Turntable Tea Room where there will be our full range of hot & cold drinks and light refreshments. And for every hot drink purchased in our Tea Room, you’ll get a FREE MINCE PIE!

Sittingbourne Steam Railway Santa Special
Location : Sittingbourne Retail Park, The Wall, Sittingbourne ME10 2XD
Trains will depart from Sittingbourne Viaduct station. We will be using the compartment coaches so please wrap up warm. The fare includes the round trip from Sittingbourne Viaduct station, departing on the hour.
After the 15 minute journey to Kemsley Down, Father Christmas’ elves will lead passengers to the Footplate Café where adults receive their seasonal refreshments. Children will be called to visit Santa’s Grotto which is a short walk away. One adult must accompany a child visiting Santa – the child will be able to choose a gift from a selection of quality toys.
There will be some time afterwards to venture out and look around Kemsley Down where we have a shop and garden railway. This year, the museum will be closed as it will be used as Santa’s Grotto.
The train will return to Sittingbourne Viaduct station to complete the entire trip within two hours.

Statfold Barn Santa Express

Swanage Railway Steam and Lights

Make wonderful and magical memories in the run-up to Christmas thanks to our festive, evocative, dramatic and colourful Steam and Lights train journey through the Isle of Purbeck countryside.
A new not to be missed pre-booked steam train experience, the steam locomotive and carriages will be covered with brightly coloured lights while the cosy steam-heated carriage interiors will be festively decorated for the one-hour evening round trip passing the historic ruins of Corfe Castle.
A memorable experience suitable for all ages. Stations and key points along the line will be specially lit as the Steam and Lights train passes through in the dark.
On board the train, there will be festive music synchronised to the lighting displays passing the carriage windows as well as an informative on-train commentary.
Before passengers board the Steam and Lights train at Swanage station, there will be a dramatic switch-on of the train lights at the platform.

Santa Specials – This festive season, step aboard the steam-heated carriages of our Santa Specials & be transported to the North Pole.
Whilst at the North Pole, you will have a one-on-one meeting with the big guy himself inside his cosy grotto, filled with sacks of presents for the good girls & boys. Santa’s cheeky elf will be causing Christmas chaos at the Shelley North Pole – will you spot them?!
