Apedale Spooky Specials
Location : Loomer Road, Chesterton Newcastle under Lyme ST5 7LB
From 4pm on Saturday 28 & Sunday 29 October, we will run our Spooky Specials. It’s a fun outing, suitable for all ages – we aim to amuse rather than terrify.
Our steam trains will run at frequent intervals, finishing at with the last train at 8pm. There’s no need to book in advance, just turn up.
We would advise that you wrap up warm and bring a torch – it’s dark in the carparking area. There’s a chance (actually, pretty much a certainty) you may get wet – so be prepared!

Audley End Railway

Your fang-tastic experience will begin at the station where our station masters will board you upon our Halloween express. Chugging deep into the Estate Woodland you will arrive at the witches’ house and be greeted by the coven of witches together with their cheeky monster friends.
The wicked witches and playful monsters will entertain you, cackling and chanting spells around their cauldrons. But make sure you behave yourselves as they perform their witchy dance, or they might cast a spell on you…
Once you return from your train journey the entertainment continues as you venture back into the woods to our Craft Cabin, where you will create your very own spell bag to use at home!
Spell bag complete you will then venture into our Fairy and Elf Walk, which is a new feature for this year’s event! Some of our resident Fairies and Elves have decorated their houses with intricate halloween decorations, use your best spotting skills to find them all!
You will then have the opportunity to explore our adventure play area while also enjoying the delights of our café and seating area, in our witches hat Tipi Tents!
Finally, you will visit the Wizard’s dwelling. Here you will meet our woodland Wizard, William, the king of the woods. He will need your help performing his spook-tacular spell to keep the woodland creatures warm in the winter.
The Audley End witches do love seeing you kitted out in your spooky finery – so make sure you dress to scare!
The Halloween spook-tacular is spooky fun and never scary and is therefore suitable for even the smallest of monsters.
If you book an afternoon experience you will also see the whole site adorned with lights!

Bala Lake Railway

Join us for a scary evening train to celebrate Halloween!
Take a spooky trip down our line as far as the train is able go before some disaster strikes and the crew are forced to turn back.
Beware as your train will be stopping at the little used and haunted Flag Halt on its return stopping briefly at the witches’ coven before returning to the safety of Llanuwchllyn.
Our stations are decorated and our staff/volunteers dress up for the occasion. Feel free to dress up for your visit as many of our visitors do.
Two special services will run at 5.30pm and 6.45pm from Llanuwchllyn to Glan Llyn where you will be entertained by the resident ghosts and ghouls.

Join us this Half term so our special spooky Ghost train evenings on the 26th, 27th, and 28th October.
The evening consists of a spooky ghost train ride and gallopers rides. There will also be a variety of halloween themed games.

Epping Ongar Railway Fright Week
Location : All trains depart from North Weald station, CM16 6BT. You will not be able to join these services at Ongar. Do not follow the brown signs as these will direct you to Ongar.
We offer an inclusive park and ride or tube and ride service from Epping station on board one of our vintage London buses. This will bring you to North Weird where there are reports of ghosts haunting the station, can you help us find them all?
Why not enjoy a calming hot drink or other refreshments from the LNER cafe on platform 3?
Then take a steam hauled journey on our full size ghost train… but watch our for the living dead who are lurking on board who may scare and entertain in equal measure!
There will be a short break at Ongar where the Manic Magician will enthrall and entertain with his mysterious magic show. The train will then return to North Weald via the ancient and eerie Epping Forest.

Hampton & Kempton Waterworks Railway Vampire Scream Up

It’s that spine tingling time of the year when you’re chillingly invited to see Dracula’s funeral procession, as he sits in his coffin being pulled by a scary horse with his miserable mourners behind.
Watch out though for our mischievous Dracula as he summons his vampires from a misty graveyard to approach the train, but not to worry our heroic Guard and Signalman will keep you safe! Or will they?

Isle of Wight Steam Railway Wizard Week

It’s wickedly, wonderful fun this half term as witches, wizards and other ghouls take over Havenstreet.
It wouldn’t be Halloween without a little magic and we have a real life magician conjuring up a few tricks. Meet the friendly witches of Havenstreet, you may be able to be a spooky apprentice and help with some magic spells.
Watch the skies as the birds of prey from Haven Falconry swoop and dive. What’s more halloween-y than an owl… owl-oween if you will. Greg Chapman will also be in the station yard telling terrible tales and mesmerising you with amazing illusions.
Take the terrifying treasure hunt trail and explore the grounds before boarding the steam train where a crafty witch will be dealing out treats (maybe a few tricks) then settle back for a journey through ‘haunted’ woodland.

Calling all little ghosts, gouls, witches, wizards, monsters and spooky characters. Thomas is ready to host a Trick or Treat Party just for you. Join Thomas at Wansford where he will be found all dressed up ready for all the spooky goings-on that are sure to happen at his Trick or Treat Party!

Spa Valley Railway Dr Frankenslime’s Trick or Treat Express!

Bring the whole family along to the Spa Valley Railway to laugh at Dr Frankenslime, the mad scientist, as he builds himself a bride!
Packed full of slapstick comedy, magic and mayhem – its set to be another sell-out show on Saturday 29th and Sunday 30th October, departing from Tunbridge Wells West at 16:15 and 18:00, returning approximately 1hr 15mins later. The performance is brought to you by the wonderful Radtastic Theatre.
You will start the gruesome fun at Tunbridge Wells West Station with an experiment or two with the wacky Dr Frankenslime. Then you will board the steam hauled Trick or Treat Express to begin your journey to the haunted, Eridge station. Along the way, Dr Frankenslime will hand out activity packs and colouring pencils to all the little monsters onboard.
Upon arrival at the station, everybody will make their way on to the platform where the mad doctor will show you how to make his famous, glow in the dark slime, each child will get to take the revolting concoction home with them!
You will board the Trick or Treat Express once again to travel back to Tunbridge Wells West, the Doctor asking each of you whether you want a trick or a treat along the way. If you make it back to the station alive, they will bid you farewell! Fares (includes train ride and show)
