Only seems like yesterday the children went back to school, and already the October half term is looming, but at this time of year there is no shortage of things to do and places to go, Halloween seems to be getting bigger every year and with so attractions adding extra entertainment throughout October, its a great time to visit.

Beale Park Halloween

Beale Park are well known for their annual Halloween event and this year promises even more spooky fun across the October half term.
The narrow gauge railway will be transformed into a ghost train. Visitors can enjoy a pumpkin and skeleton trail, make broomsticks, wands and bat boxes, and there will be special sessions of Meet the Creepy Crawlies.
On Halloween itself, they will be offering Halloween face painting throughout the day. Some activities incur a small additional cost. One child in full fancy dress goes free with a paying adult – pre-booking recommended online.

BOO at the Zoo is back for 2024!
This Halloween, Dartmoor Zoo is opening its gates after dark to invite you to a truly FANG-tastic night at the Zoo!
Join them on Friday 25th and Saturday 26th October for two FRIGHTfully good evenings, filled with shock horrors, hair-raising delights and nail biting frights..
Listen out for rustling amongst the trees and peeping eyes as you make your way around the Zoo, meeting characters of the strange, unsavoury and nightmarish kind on your travels.
This event is suitable for most families, however some areas will have advisories and will not be suitable for young children. They will provide a map that lets you know where to find the thrills you seek!
Gates open at 5.30pm with staggered entry tickets available. Event closes at 8.30pm.
You can expect:
Roam the haunted Zoo grounds - Dark pathways will take you all around the Zoo, through the forest, around the big cats, birds and more. If you look carefully, you may be able to see the bright eyes of the animal residents out at night. Look out for gruesome scenes and expect creatures to be lurking in the shadows.
Watch your step in the Wicked Woodland and Dolls Demise - Find yourself navigating the blackened woodlands. Be careful, you never know what kind of monsters lurk in the shadows. Warning: These areas are not for the faint-hearted. Expect monsters, unusual sounds, sudden shocks and more.
Make it out alive from our Dark Maze - In a menacing maze where your eyes can no longer be trusted, can you feel your way out? Use all your senses to find your direction, but be careful, not everything or everyone is your friend inside these dark walls…
Look closer in our Reptile and Bug House - Meet the reptilian residents and beastly bugs. All guests will have access to the Reptile and Bug House from 5.45pm-8pm. Meet the experts who look after the creepy crawlies and learn all about their weird and wonderful ways. This is a great experience for young children.
Enjoy SPOOKtacular entertainment shows, moreish cuisine and tricks or treats galore… we SCARE you to come!

Pick-a-pumpkin!
Halloween Adventure from 8th to 31st Oct
The beautiful picket-fence pumpkin patch will be back! Right next the giraffe enclosure, this is quite possibly the prettiest pumpkin patch in Scotland.
Pick your pumpkin, toast marshmallows over the fire-pits, have fun climbing on the giant hay-bale spiders and follow the trick-or-treat trail. This is a beautiful time of year at the park, and a great place to create some festive family memories.
Plus, of course, you can enjoy all the usual animals and safari park attractions. All visitors will have full access to the safari park and dinosaur attraction.

West Midlands Safari Park

West Midlands Safari park will be having a Spooky Spectacular event from 22nd – 30th October 2022
Brimming with Halloween decorations and hundreds of pumpkins in the impressive Pumpkin Patch.
The excitable pumpkin-scarecrow character, ‘Patch’, will be returning during half term to greet guests and put on a fantastic show!
This year, he has brought some magical pals along with him, including a friendly witch and wizard, cheeky dragons and even a silly skeleton.
Spooky explorers will need to help locate the missing potion ingredients in the free Scratchcard Trail, which have been stolen by some mischievous dragons. If they can find all the items, they will win a special treat!
They also have extended opening hours, so brave explorers can discover dinosaurs and rides in the dark!
