The Mousetrap Tour Hits Norwich

Last night Asa and I went along to the opening night of Agatha Christie’s The Mousetrap Tour which is in Norwich until Saturday 28th January 2023

Don’t Just See It. Solve It!

Agatha Christie’s The Mousetrap is the world’s longest-running play. This thrilling West End production is THE genre-defining murder mystery from the best-selling novelist of all time… case closed!

As news spreads of a murder in London, a group of seven strangers find themselves snowed in at a remote countryside guesthouse. When a police sergeant arrives, the guests discover – to their horror – that a killer is in their midst! Which one is the murderer? Who will be their next victim? Can you solve this world-famous mystery for yourself?

Now celebrating 70 years, Agatha Christie’s The Mousetrap has kept millions of people from every corner of the globe on the edge of their seats. Could You be Next?

In November we watched another Agatha Christie The Mirror Crackd, and we loved it, so I was looking forward to the longest running play, 70 years is definitely something incredible!

The fact that I had no clue about the plot or any of the characters, proves that the secrets of of The Mousetrap is alive and well!

The Mousetrap Tour Cast

Mollie Ralston the guesthouse owner is played by Joelle Dyson, she is perfect as the host, who is trying to keep everyone happy, and is a little overwhelmed by the task of running the guesthouse.

Her husband Giles Ralston, played by Laurence Pears gives the impression that the guesthouse idea was more Mollie’s idea! But he is supportive of her ideas and seems very protective of her when one of the guests shows her attention.

The first of the guests to arrive was Christopher Wren (Elliot Clay) one of my favourite characters, he was totally over the top and made me laugh out loud with his humorous and childlike antics, he was a stark contrast to Mrs Boyle and his sudden outbursts of song were very entertaining!

Mrs Boyle was played by Gwyneth Strong who I saw in Ladies of Letters last year, so I know she isn’t always such a battleaxe! But boy did she play an unlikeable old woman in Mrs Boyle! She was perfect as the rude, obnoxious old lady !

Major Metcalf was played by Todd Carty, who portrayed the slightly bumbling Major perfectly, very likeable but not the most with it chap!

Next was Miss Casewell, played by Essie Barrow who was a very forthright young lady, who stood no nonsense, but in a much nicer way than Mrs Boyle!

Those were the four expected guests, then suddenly in the middle of the snowstorm Mr Paravicini arrives at the guesthouse with a tale of how his car overturned in the snow and he was looking for somewhere to stay.

Mr Paravacini is played by Kieran Brown who had some lovely lines and a somewhat questionable Italian accent! Not quite sure i’ll listen to Three Blind Mice the same after last night!

The Mousetrap Tour

News of the murder brought along Detective Sgt Trotter, (Joseph Reed) his entrance on skis was legendary! An energetic force that flew around the stage in the various rooms, trying to solve the murder mystery.

There are currently tickets still available for Wednesday evening show in Norwich, but if you are not local you can check out the other tour dates HERE
