Last night Neva and I went along to watch The Drifters Girl musical, I grew up with The Drifters Songs courtesy of my dad and his love of all music!
So I was interested in the story of Faye Treadwell, and how she came to be successful in the music business, as a woman, in that time!

From the moment the Drifters came onto the stage you knew you were in for a night of fantastic vocals and smooth dance moves!
Its hard to believe that this amazing show has just six people swapping and changing between roles, last night there was one cast change but you wouldn’t even know if you weren’t made aware.
Carly Mercedes Dyer as Faye Treadwell was superb, she was strong, sassy, and such a powerful voice, she portrayed a woman in the music business in that era perfectly.
You follow her journey from when she first meets George Treadwell and the Drifters all the way through to her doing it alone and then taking on the likes of Lover Paterson to rightfully claim Drifters Incorporated.
Jaydah Bell-Ricketts was great as Faye’s daughter, she had the same grit and determination as her mother, yet also a kind of innocence that shone through.
The four guys playing the Drifters plus other characters were outstanding Miles Anthony Daley took on the roles of George Tredwell & Others, he had a great ability to swap between the various characters, that sometimes you questioned if it actually was him playing the new role!
Ben E. King, Rudy Lewis & Others were played by Ashford Campbell, Tarik Frimpong played Clyde McPhatter, Lover Paterson & Others and Tre Copeland-Williams took on the roles of Johnny Moore, Gerhart Thrasher & Others .
The four guys had the audience laughing at their female role playing and clapping along with their singing and dancing.
There were so many amazing songs to sing along to, with classics like Under The Boardwalk, Kissin’ In The Back Row Of the Movies and Saturday Night at The Movies.
So if you are looking for a night out full of toe-tapping tunes and great dance moves, book your tickets to See the Drifters Girl, currently at Norwich Theatre until Saturday 23rd September 2023.
