Life of Pi UK Tour Arrives At Norwich

Life of Pi UK Tour – Last night Neva and I were invited along to the opening night of Life of Pi, currently touring the UK it is at Norwich Theatre until Saturday 30th September, and it is definitely not one to miss!

Based on the best-selling book by Yann Martel, Life of Pi UK tour show comes to Norwich Theatre Royal.

Winner of five Olivier Awards, including Best New Play! After conquering the West End and Broadway, the ‘theatrical phenomenon’ (Telegraph) embarks on its biggest adventure yet.

Jaw-dropping visuals and world-class puppetry combine in a unique and ‘breath-taking’ (The Times) theatrical event that is ‘a wonder to behold’ (Daily Mail).

After an epic storm in the Pacific Ocean, Pi is stranded on a lifeboat with four other survivors – a hyena, a zebra, an orangutan, and a Royal Bengal tiger.

Based on the global phenomenon and winner of the Man Booker Prize, selling over fifteen million copies worldwide, Life Of Pi is the hugely popular story of an epic journey of endurance and hope. Don’t miss the West End and Broadway spectacle on its first ever UK tour.

Divesh Subaskaran was outstanding as Pi, it’s hard to belive this is his professional debut, he’s definitely one to follow for the future. He was funny, heartfelt, sarcastic and adorable all rolled into one.

The entire production was enthralling from start to finish, from their time in India at the zoo, when he first meets Richard Parker and the unfortunate demise of Buckingham The Goat, then their decision to start a new life in Canada, and the events that then unfold.

It was an emotional rollercoaster throughout, the set was superb, it really had you believing that you were in the middle of the ocean, and that he was surrounded by wild animals!

We have been to see a few productions with puppets including Running Wild and Jungle Book so we knew how amazing and lifelike they could be, however Life of Pi has defionitely taken it to a new level!

The puppets features were amazing, but what really made them were the people behind the creature, their mannerisms, movements and behaviours were exactly as you see those creatures.

The sound effects were hauntingly realistic, so much, that they made you wince and gasp!

Life of Pi is here in Norwich until Saturday
