Greatest Days Musical will be One You’ll Never Forget!

Last night Neva and I went along to the press night of The Greatest Days Musical – The Official Take That Musical, and this beautiful musical still Rules The World!

Relight Your Fire with this sensational new production of Take That’s smash hit musical Greatest Days.

Greatest Days features more than 15 record-breaking Take That songs, alongside a heart-warming and hilarious story of love, loss and laughter from award-winning writer Tim Firth that will make your heart Shine.

The musical follows five boy band obsessed best friends in the 1990s, who reunite over 20 years later to see their heartthrobs one last time in what could be the Greatest Days of their life.

Previously titled The Band, the show broke box office records and delighted audiences around the United Kingdom when it performed from 2017 – 2019.

Celebrating the 30th Anniversary of Take That’s first ever UK number 1 single Pray and coinciding with the summer 2023 release of the official movie of this smash hit musical – Greatest Days is sure to be a night out at the theatre you will Never Forget.

What Did We think of Greatest Days Musical

After watching The Band twice when it hit Norwich back in 2018 (i’m still in shock where those five years have gone!) we were both curious to see if it still had the same appeal, and we both agreed it certainly does!

The story begins with Rachel (Rachel Marwood) getting the washing in! And she starts to reminisce about her teenage years and the boy band stage! Which many of us can relate to!

You are transported back in time to Top of The Pops on the radio and recording the songs on your tape recorder, learning the latest dance moves to your favourite pop song – something many of us remember, although it does seem like an absolute lifetime ago!

You are introduced to a younger Rachel (Olivia Hallett) and her four bffs Debbie (Mary Moore), Heather ( Kitty Harris), Zoe (Hannah Brown) and Claire (Mari McGinlay), they reminded me of my school friends and the antics we got up to!

Debbie wins a competition to see The Band and all five set off on the best night of their lives, the story is intertwined with classic Take That hits.

The Band consists of Kalifa Burton, Jamie Corner, Archie Durrant, Regan Gascoigne and Alexanda O’Reilly, all of whom played the boyband part perfectly with some killer dance moves.

After that concert their lives change forever, when Debbie loses her life, and the ensuing funeral sends the four remaining girls in completely different directions, warning – you will need a few tissues for this musical!

Rachel enters a competition on the radio to win a VIP trip to Athens to watch The Band, which she wins, and although her partner Jeff immediately starts to arrange for them to go with their two friends, Rachel decides to send an email to her three school friends, to see if they’d like to go.

Greatest Days Musical

They all arrive at the airport and you are introduced to Heather (Karen Holmes), Zoe (Holly Ashton) and Claire (Jamie-Rose Monk) as they are now, 25 years later, and their lives haven’t quite turned out as they had all planned!

You are then taken on a VERY emotional journey of them going to Athens, discussing the last 25 years and trying to work out how to move forward with their lost friendship, it was a real tear jerker at times, and all of the cast really made you feel as though you were there on the journey with them, amazing acting, and phenomenal voices from all of them.

Huge shout out to Alan Stocks who plays every Dave, he had the audience in stitches and I loved Jeff, Rachels partner, played by Christopher D. Hunt, who we had seen previously as Cal in Waitress he was funny, kind, understanding and vulnerable all rolled in to one.

So if you are looking for a musical with a beautiful (if sometimes sad ) story, a fabulous soundtrack and some killer dance moves, then Greatest Days is one to go and see.
