We were invited along to Escape Hunt Norwich to try out one of their Escape Rooms, there are five choices at Escape Hunt in Castle Quarter.
Journey to Atlantis, Escape The Wild West, Aladdin & the Magic Vault, Alice in Puzzleland and Blackbeards Treasure.
On this trip we decided to Give Alice in Puzzleland a try, we booked for the beginning of the day, as we know that Norwich can get pretty busy on a Saturday!
Here is what they have to say about Alice in Puzzleland…..
The Mad Hatter is in trouble. Save him from the Queen of Hearts without losing your heads.
Step into Wonderland, where the Hatter has been accused of stealing the Queen’s Tarts. With Alice nowhere to be seen, it’s time for you to fill her shoes.
You find yourself at the Hatter’s cottage. The table is set but no one is around.
A sign on the lawn reads ‘Tea Party Cancelled by Royal Decree’. Curiouser and curiouser…
Find and return the Queen’s Tarts in 60 minutes, or it’s off with the Hatter’s head. Chop chop.
You can book the Escape Rooms from 10am all the way through until 21.15pm so plenty of slots available each day to solve the puzzles and escape!
We parked in Castle Quarter Car Park 2 as we knew it was near to Escape Hunt from previous visits, however it is a very small car park with limited spaces so i’d probably advise going to Car park 1!
The entrance to Escape Hunt is actually located just outside Castle Quarter, underneath the big Vue Cinema Sign, just walk through Castle Quarter and follow the Escape Hunt signage!
We arrived about 5 minutes before our 10am start, and i’m pleased to report there are toilets available before you begin your escape room challenge!
We booked in at reception and there are tables for you to sit at whilst you wait for your session to begin.
Very quickly we were taken through to our Escape Room Entrance, where there is a locker to secure your belongings, our host Daisy told us all the rules and how to navigate the escape room, it was our first time in an escape room, and she really put us at ease and explained everything, including how to get help in case we got REALLY stuck!!
Alice In Puzzleland Experience
The first thing that struck me was how intricate and detailed the rooms were, there were lots of props (some part of the puzzle, some not) and if you didn’t concentrate you could have easily wasted 15 minutes just marvelling at the decor!
The Alice in Puzzleland consists of various sections, you do have to solve some puzzles to be able to access areas going forward.
I am obviously not going to give anything away, but the one thing I will say is that you may need to go back to earlier puzzles to solve ones later in the escape room journey.
Xene and Eowyn both enjoy puzzle solving games such as Professor Layton, so I knew they’d be able to work out the riddles and solve the puzzles, but did we escape in Time ?……
Yes we escaped with about 10 minutes left on the clock, although it did make me slightly flustered when it starts to countdown how long you have left!!
Then it was time for the Photo with Props!!
Our Thoughts on Escape Hunt Norwich (Castle Quarter)
We all loved it! I knew we would and it was lovely to see Eowyn and Kaide working together without the usual bickering!
The puzzles were challenging but not impossible, and each time you solved a puzzle it moved on seamlessly to the next one, all the detailing was perfect, and I am definitely curious to see what the other Escape Rooms have to offer.
