Why is Antalya such a popular tourist destination for families?

Family holidays are special, and the perfect time to build memories that you and your children will never forget. Choosing the right location can be difficult, especially when you need to factor in things like your budget and preferences.

The largest city on the Mediterranean coast, Antalya is a place of paradise, renowned for its warm climate, variety of outdoor activities and reasonable prices. This has secured it as a firm favourite amongst families who love to travel.

So, why is Antalya a great holiday destination for families? Let’s find out!

The weather is incredible

On average, the Turkish coast sees around 300 sunny days each year. Late spring and early fall are ideal if you want to spend as much time outdoors or in the sea as possible.

The kids will love exploring the city whilst the weather is great, especially if you’re used to doom and gloom. Just remember to pack lots of sun cream!

It’s highly affordable

If you’re looking for an international summer break without spending too much, Antalya is definitely a suitable choice.

Turkey as a whole is very affordable compared with other Middle Eastern and European countries, and Antalya is no exception.

What’s great is that you can access luxury options without the usual high price tag. All-inclusive hotels, three-course meals at top restaurants and private guides are all reasonably priced, which is great when you have several family members to consider.

It’s easy to travel to

Due to Antalya’s large size, it has an airport that is accessible from most other parts of Turkey. For example, a domestic flight from Istanbul to Antalya takes around an hour, which is great for those flying internationally.

You can also find regular direct flights to Antalya from the UK and Europe, particularly during the peak travel season.

Getting to your accommodation from the airport is relatively hassle-free. Public transport will get you there in around 40 minutes, whereas an Antalya airport transfer will get you there much sooner in around 25 minutes.

Hiring a private vehicle will also make the transition to your accommodation much smoother, especially since taking care of a young family can already be a struggle.

There’s an abundance of attractions

Antalya is great for both children and teenagers, with a variety of different activities available for them to get stuck into during your visit.

One of the most popular, located 40km outside of the city centre, is Kemer Dinosaur Park. Here you’ll discover life-size replicas of the creatures that once roamed the Earth.

If that’s not impressive enough, you’ll also find water slides, climbing walls and a planetarium. There really is something here for all children, regardless of what their hobbies and interests are.

Then there’s the Aquarium, where the kids can document the local marine life whilst walking through an underground glass tunnel. Or, the Fantastic Park Theme Park, which is host to adrenaline-inducing coasters and safari tours through the forests.
