Spy Movie: The Play! begins its tour in Norwich

Last night Eowyn and I went along to the opening night of Spy Movie The Play, and it was hilarious!

Norwich Theatre in association with A. Cabbage presents:

The Greatest Spy Movie (n)Ever Made

Agent Blonde has 24 hours to save the world. The only things standing in her way are dastardly villains, an outrageous plot, and… a lack of funding.

When Hollywood rejects her script, a frustrated screenwriter invites you, an audience of producers, to a one-night-only presentation of The Greatest Spy Movie (n)Ever Made!

Produced by Norwich Theatre and from two of the minds behind The New Musketeers (Trinity Theatre) and stars of The Play That Goes Wrong and Peter Pan Goes Wrong, Spy Movie: The Play! is a new hilarious homage to Bond movies.

Starring just four cast members, its a non-stop barrage of bad jokes, questionable props and silly antics, and we LOVED it!

And judging by the amount of continuous laughter ringing out across the playhouse, we were not alone in our enjoyment of the show.

From the moment you walk into the theatre you are made to feel part of the story, with the Producer walking amongst the audience trying to encourage you all to invest in their movie/play!

And in true theatrical style the leading actor has quit and the remaining team members take on the task of the various roles, which leads to lots of hats and Generals!

It is totally bonkers from start to finish and that’s what makes it so enjoyable! With nods to various Spy Movies throughout the show, its clear that the cast have a real fondness for 007.

All four cast members Katy Daghorn – The Writer, Jo Hartland – The Actress, Matthew Howell – The Producer and Jamie Watterson – The Stuntman were strong in their own right, playing so many characters, you’d think they would be similar, but they couldn’t be more different, each one was believable as a stand alone character, which is a testament to the talent that was on the stage in front of us.

Spy movie: The Play is at Norwich Playhouse tonight, so if you are looking for a fun evening, grab your tickets HERE
