With the Summer holidays finally on the horizon, here is a list of events taking place this week throughout Norfolk and Suffolk.
- Family Fun Day Great Yarmouth Racecourse – 22nd July 2017
The BDFA fun day is back again for 2017! FREE parking, entry is still only £2 and under 6’s are free.
Titan the Robot , Over 20 Heroes provided all day, Baby T-rex, Princess tent with stories, singalongs and thrones, Green + Pink Power Rangers, Over 30 different animals with monkeys + meerkats, BMX stunt shows throughout the day , Over 15 wild bird exhibition ,Firework spectacular ,Circus arena, Art workshops,Bushcrafter skills area, Unique inflatables including the Wipeout. Live music + displays + magicians all day and night, Body paint exhibition with demos, Great food stalls and bar facilities in the main stage area,Donkey rides,Over 30 local stalls with charity stalls, Face Painting. All in aid of the BDFA and Anchorage Trust charity!
2. Lowestoft Festival 22nd & 23rd July 2017
A packed programme includes an International Food Fayre in Waterloo Road, Lowestoft’s Got talent, Live Music, Puppet Theatre, Car Show, Children’s entertainment, dance battles and the famous sandcastle building event.
3. Holkham Country Fair 22nd & 23rd July 2017
Set in the beautiful surroundings of Holkham Estate by kind permission of the Earl and Countess of Leicester, Holkham Country Fair celebrates all things Countryside with a fun-packed two days of Grand Ring entertainment, Showground Events to watch or get involved in and trade stands to satisfy the most comprehensive of shoppers.
4. We Love Donkeys at Redwings Caldecott 22nd – 24th July
Throughout the summer, why not take part in a range of activities during the specially-themed “We Love Donkeys/Ponies/Horses” weeks at Redwings Caldecott? Have a go at grooming one of the donkeys or ponies, join in with one of the educational talks, or enjoy a “behind the scene” tour. Redwings Caldecott is the largest visitor centre and currently home to almost 120 horses, ponies, donkeys and mules. You can meet mini but mighty Shetland pony Sampson, plus a whole herd of donkeys and mules (34 to be precise!) – including adorable donkey Esther and Muffin the Mule!
Redwings Caldecott is open all year round, every Friday, Saturday, Sunday and Monday 10am to 4pm (closed Tuesdays, Wednesdays and Thursdays).
5. Family Fun Day at How Hill. 26 July and 28 July
Thatch a roof with reed and find out if it’s waterproof; dyke dip for water minibeasts; try wonderful weaving with fancy fabrics; make pine cone pets and junk jewellery; find real treasure on our pirate treasure trail; build dens in the woods; make silver birch people and woodfaces in ‘Logland; stroll around our beautiful gardens and climb aboard traditional Norfolk wherry Hathor which will be moored up at How Hill staithe.
Admission: £7 per adult £7 per child, under 4s are FREE
6. Sandringham Flower Show 26th July
East Anglia’s prestigious leading Flower Show Horticultural & Craft Marquees; Show Gardens – judged by TV Personalities Chris Beardshaw & Alan Mason; Gardener’s Question Time; Ring Events; Children’s Entertainments; Refreshments and Music from the Bandstand Ring Events this year include the Spitfire Flypast; Parade by historic Military Vehicles and the Norwich Pipe Band

7. Boogie on The Broads 26th July

8. Roller Disco at RetroSkate 26th July
Summer Wednesday Roller Disco’s are back! Skate the night away then watch the Seafront Fireworks at 10pm. Don’t have your own wheels? No problem, borrow ours for £1.75!

9. Summer Fireworks at Great Yarmouth Central Beach – 26th July
Every Wednesday evening for seven weeks the skies over Great Yarmouth are illuminated with our fantastic summer firework spectacular. The evening starts off with fun and music entertainment from 8pm followed by our firework display starting at 10pm.
For the best viewing area, anywhere along the seafront Esplanade, along Britannia or Wellington Pier are perfect spots. Enjoy the free live music at the Sea Life Centre Gardens from 8pm, before watching the fireworks. A fabulous free weekly event not to be missed!
10. Great Outdoor Cinema Club Fritton Lake Outdoor Centre 27th July/28th July
Pop Up Pictures is coming to back to Fritton Lake with the Great Outdoor Cinema Club. Pop Up Pictures offer a truly memorable boutique outdoor cinema experience in some of East Anglia’s most unique places and spaces.
27th movie – BIG .After wishing to be made big, a teenage boy wakes the next morning to find himself mysteriously in the body of an adult.
